My first time in Colorado was an absolute dream. We to a new brunch place almost every day and visited the Denver Botanical Gardens, Zoo and spent some time at Cheeseman Park, but the highlight of the trip was visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. The drive there was about an hour or so north of where my friend was living and was very scenic and beautiful. Once there we hiked along the Emerald Lake train starting at the Bear Lake trailhead. The trail was super populated and steep at some points, but was honestly so beautiful regardless. The trail passed through three lakes, Nymph lake, Dream Lake (my favorite) and Emerald Lake. Along our hike we saw deer and so many chipmunks I lost count.
Once we arrived at Emerald Lake we stopped and enjoyed some dinner, which were just some sandwiches and fruit we packed. We sat and enjoyed the beautiful view as the sun set below the mountains and a group of kids pumped into and swam in the lake. The hike back to the trailhead was so much easier, but just as beautiful as the sun was setting behind the mountains, creating stunning colors through some of the smog and dust Colorado was getting. I am so thankful I was able to witness some of the beautiful natural scenery the earth has and I cant wait for my next visit!
